CRO non-conviction sentence was imposed by the Downing Centre Court Magistrate for drug possession and assault police officer offences

Our client is a 26-year-old student in software engineering and works full time as an inventory supervisor.

Police charged our client with possession of a prohibited drug and assault police officer with intent to resist arrest.

Our client was caught in the process of a “dial a dealer” transaction and upon being confronted by police he fled the scene on foot with police pursuing him; eventually our client was stopped by police where he was handcuffed and told to not move.

Police found marijuana in his possession, and upon that happening, our client panicked and again attempted to flee the scene which resulted in a struggle between our client and police officers. Our client was ultimately caught and escorted back to the police station.

He then immediately called our CDLA office legal hotline and spoke to our criminal lawyer Alex Istifan who provided him with practical advice and guidance in a time our client was very anxious, and intimidated by police.

Alex from the get go developed a comprehensive case analysis and plan for the case moving forward. Documents and evidence were all prepared in the lead up to the court date at the Downing Centre Local Court.

Alex prepared his client’s case soo well that it maximised his client’s chances at getting the best possible outcome. In fact, after our client wanted to plead guilty and get the process over with, the Magistrate at the Downing Centre Court was convinced after hearing Alex’s persuasive and articulated submissions on behalf of his client, to not record a criminal conviction (under section 10) against his client for both offences.
