He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales and completed his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law, where he undertook electives in Criminal Law Practice and Administrative Law Practice.
Zac has been admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
Throughout his legal training and professional experience, Zac has developed strong skills in legal research, legal drafting, evidence analysis, case management and client communication. He brings a methodical approach to reviewing legal and factual material and understands the importance of identifying relevant details when preparing a client’s case.
His academic background in both law and commerce has also provided him with a broad foundation in analytical reasoning and problem solving. This is reflective of his impressive achievement of scoring a 97.5% ATAR even prior to studying Law at University.
Before developing his career in criminal defence, Zac gained valuable experience assisting clients facing significant legal and personal challenges.
Before coming to CDLA, Zac worked in law firm where he assisted more than 250 refugees and political prisoners from Myanmar in complex immigration matters. He prepared detailed legal submissions addressing protection claims and responded to credibility concerns raised by the Department of Home Affairs.
This experience required Zac to carefully analyse evidence, identify flaws and assumptions in adverse reasoning, and develop persuasive legal arguments addressing the particular circumstances of each client.
Zac also developed significant case management experience, taking carriage of approximately 95% of a Special Counsel’s caseload, managing a large number of matters at a time. This required meticulous attention to deadlines, evidence, documentation and client communication.
These skills are highly relevant to criminal defence, where careful preparation, accurate analysis and effective management of a case can be critical.
Zac’s experience has also developed his ability to work with clients from diverse and vulnerable backgrounds.
During his time at a community Legal Centre, Zac assisted clients experiencing financial hardship, housing insecurity and other difficult circumstances. He prepared legal applications, drafted correspondence and case documents, coordinated client appointments and worked with social service organisations to help clients access appropriate legal remedies.
This experience reinforced Zac’s belief that effective legal representation requires more than simply understanding the law. Clients need to feel heard, respected and properly informed about the process they are going through.

He was awarded Most Valuable Player and was selected for a District Basketball Team following a highly competitive selection process.
His experience in competitive sport developed qualities that continue to influence his professional approach, including discipline, resilience, teamwork and the ability to remain focused under pressure.
