Our 38-year-old client from Castle Hill was charged by police with two common assault domestic violence offences. The offence occurred in the context of our client helping his 8-year-old daughter with her homework. When she wasn’t paying attention, he repeatedly smacked her on the side of her head as a way of discipline. His wife intervened to stop him before our client pushed his wife away.

The assaults were the repeated hits to his 8-year old daughters head and push to his wife. Our client had always been disciplined in the same way growing up by his parents and applied the same to his daughter.

He works as a technician officer for the NSW Rural Fire Service and requires to maintain a clean record. He was understandably concerned as to the effects of a criminal record on his job and ability to continue paying the bills and supporting his wife and child who were completely dependant on him.

Our specialist criminal lawyer Ahmad Faraj tirelessly worked on the preparation of his case before persuasively appearing before the Magistrate at the Parramatta Local Court who was ultimately convinced to not record a conviction against our client, imposing instead a non-conviction Conditional Release Order for both offences he pleaded guilty to.

Our client was able to maintain his job and move on with his life conviction free.
