Tania is a senior criminal defence lawyer at CDLA, bringing a wealth of experience and insight to the firm. Known for her confident, strategic approach and persuasive courtroom advocacy, Tania can represent clients in serious and complex matters, including charges of murder, large-scale drug supply, serious assaults, and sexual offences—particularly historical and child sexual assault allegations and Crime Commission proceedings.
Before joining CDLA, Tania worked at a leading criminal law firm in Sydney, where she developed her skills as a courtroom advocate. She appeared in complex bail applications, sentence hearings, Section 14 mental health applications, and defended Local Court hearings, while also instructing in District Court jury trials.
In addition to her legal practice, she mentored junior lawyers in advocacy training and case preparation, demonstrating her leadership and commitment to high standards in criminal defence.
Tania focuses heavily on preparation and strong representation in court, placing her clients in the best position possible. With this focus, she has achieved outstanding results in court.
Earlier in her career, Tania served as a Judge’s Associate at the NSW District Court. In this prestigious role, she assisted the Judge in legal research across key areas of criminal law, including sentencing, evidence, and procedural matters.
She also conducted empanelment’s and arraignments as the Clerk of Arraigns and was responsible for using JusticeLink and Caselaw to accurately record and publish court orders and judgments.
She also coordinated the Referral List for the efficient running of the list each month. This unique experience gave Tania deep insight into judicial reasoning and court processes, enhancing her effectiveness as a defence lawyer.
Tania holds a Juris Doctor with Distinction and a Bachelor of Arts (Criminology) from Macquarie University, along with a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law.
