Our 41-year-old client from Edmunson Park was recently admitted as a lawyer in 2021. The father of one was charged for common assault Domestic violence and an AVO by his wife.

The AVO prevented our client from attending the home in which his wife and son were living in, forcing our client to leave the home.

Our client when first charged by police went to a different law firm, and due to the lack of communication and effort put into his case by them, he was referred and contacted CDLA. He spoke to our senior criminal lawyer Keiran Khan who carefully and passionately prepared and fought for him.

Our client who has not previous conviction, was also hit in the face by his wife. Due to our client making early admissions of guilty to police before speaking to a lawyer, a plea of guilty was entered and our Keiran diligently negotiated with the police to change the police facts to reflect what really happened. Police eventually agreed which significantly reduced the seriousness of the assault.

Our client was understandably very concerned of getting a criminal conviction given his position as a lawyer in an international law firm in Australia.

After months of preparation, consultations and negotiations, our Keiran appeared before the Liverpool Local Court Magistrate and made persuasive and well prepared submissions. Ultimately, the Magistrate agreed to not convict our client and ordered a section 10 non conviction dismissal.

Thankfully, our client walked out of the court house without a conviction with a second chance thanks to the thorough preparation and hard work put in by our Keiran.
