Downing Centre Court consists of the Sydney Local Court and Sydney District Court, also known as the downing centre local court and downing centre district court.

The Downing Centre Court building contains a number of levels with multiple court rooms. Each court room has a Presiding Judge or Magistrate who hears the days’ cases throughout the weekday.

Levels 4 and 5 are normally the downing centre local courts. Whereas, the remaining levels, usually lower-ground level, ground level, levels 1,2 and 3 are downing centre district courts.

The Downing Centre Courts hears all criminal & traffic cases, including judge alone & jury trials, hearings, sentences, appeals and bail applications.

Sydney CBD also contains the Central Local Court.
